SHSAR trains constantly to improve ourselves to better serve families in need. We have tens of thousands of hours logged of search time in all kinds of terrain and weather that would normally be encountered in the midwest. From a grid search in a large field to a special team mission in a very remote location, we can help! In addition to our own team we can also help organize other volunteer searchers that come to help that may or may not have any searching experience. We are very professional and dedicate ourselves to being one of the best SAR Teams in the midwest! SHSAR is also extremely knowledgeable about 'crime scene' preservation and is able to secure the scene until proper authorities arrive.

Members of SHSAR are trained in numerous courses/classes including those from NASAR ( National Association of Search and Rescue ) and NIMS ( National Incident Managment System - FEMA ). Half of our members are Medical First Responders with the remaining members having CPR/First Aid certifications so if our team is first on scene to the victim, we are able to treat and stabilize them until advanced medical care can take over.

Our members are skilled in map and compass reading (day or night operations) as well as trained in the use of GPS units. Our members are trained in the use of the UTM mapping grid system and the use of 1:24,000 scale mapping.
