The Shawn Hornbeck Search and Rescue (SHSAR) Team is comprised of highly dedicated and skilled volunteers who are able to respond to both urban and wilderness emergencies in Missouri, Illinois, Arkansas, Indiana, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Iowa. SHSAR team members are extensively trained in search techniques, tracking (ground and K-9), communications, wilderness search and rescue, urban search and rescue, and search management.
After the search was over many of the groups started taking group photos of their teams as seen in this photo. Americorps of St. Louis ( in the yellow coats ) are an impressive ground search team....we would be happy to work with them again!

The Shawn Hornbeck Search and Rescue Team is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. SHSAR will deploy in all kinds of weather in the event of an emergency or lost/missing person free of charge to the family or law enforcement. Our services are available to most of the midwest as we will travel up to 400 miles from our home base in the St. Louis, Missouri area. This allows for our resources to be used in all or a portion of 17 surrounding states!

The SHSAR team is a separate LLC corporation that was created under the Shawn Hornbeck Foundation's non-profit 501(c)(3). SHSAR relies on fundraisers and donations to support our search efforts and all donations are kept in separate accounting books for accurate record keeping for the team and are reported to the foundation. | We are inviting interested participants to join us for a mock search training exercise. We will have our members available to take participants in the field to show how a search is conducted. Anyone interested may fill out a membership application while attending! The event will be on March 27 at Babler State Park. - 3/6 |
